Developing Research Intelligence
Health Care Needs
Due to the rapid technological advancements that has been spreading in various industries, there was no doubt that it would slowly appear within the healthcare industry.
According to medical researchers, AI systems could improve the process of analyzing large amounts of data, which leads to clearer understanding of patient’s condition. Being able to point out the patient’s condition is a key step in helping doctors make accurate diagnoses at a faster rate, enhancing such a revolutionary process ould lead to early preventions of diseases and reducing diagnostic errors.
Taking that into account, healthcare professionals around the world are convinced in adapting AI into their system, especially in Ethiopia, a country that built an institute with the ambition of becoming “a state-of-the-art National Research and Development Center” within the next 10 years.
AI Institute
In 2020, the Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed of Ethiopia inaugurated the country’s first artificial intelligence (AI) center in Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia. With no time wasted, the institute has gone straight into working on improving women’s healthcare, starting with addressing the gender data gap in medical research, and adequetly researching women-specific health issues. Breast cancer being one of them since it has been observed as a widely detected disease amongst women around the world.
So for the institude has garnered success in developing technology that has been successfully implemented in countries like America, China, and India. Their goal to use the technology as a resource for Ethiopia’s health system, which is based on early prevention of diseases.
Developments
All in all, the healthcare industry is one of the most expensive and demanding sectors in the world, with the use of advanced technology such as AI can decrease the inequality of medical services within developing countries.
